A lady from Humboldt County in California has a great rescue story, and it is rather unusual. The story centered on a little dog that was rescued from a trapped car, waiting for his owner to come back. And although the pooch had a happy ending, the circumstances that started it all were tragic.
Abandoned
The story started when the woman noticed a car abandoned by the side of the road. Curious, she went near the vehicle to see what was going on. She was stunned to see that there was a dog inside it. So she immediately got in touch with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
The lady waited by the side of the vehicle and waited for the authorities to arrive. Soon after, the frightened dog was freed. They also started investigating who owned the car and the pooch. And what they learned was heart rendering.
The dog’s human apparently committed suicide. He left his home with his dog. He then parked where they found the car and locked the dog inside. He then went off to take his own life.
Golden years
The authorities called the man’s next of kin, and they discovered that the dog’s name is Banks and he is 15 years old. They couldn’t take Banks and asked them if they could find him a good home. The lonely pooch was then taken to the Humboldt County Animal Shelter.
One of the shelter staff remembered that they had an approved applicant who was looking for a senior dog to adopt. They called her and asked her to come and meet Banks.
Fortunately, the two hit it off right away. The new owner was saddened to hear the dog’s story, and she was more than happy to give Banks a good life in his golden years.
