Zoos, aquariums, playgrounds, and amusement parks are locations that are typically filled with crowds. They are often filled with the sounds of children laughing, adults conversing, and animals’ noise in the background. It’s strange to see how deserted these areas have become when the lockdowns were enforced, as they are typically bustling with activity.
In accordance with the government’s attempts to protect the public from the deadly virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic, all public facilities have ceased operations. Included in this list is the Georgia Aquarium.
To ensure that the location remains as active as it was when people were permitted to visit, the management of the facility granted access to different types of visitors.
The administration worked with the Atlanta Humane Society to allow rescue kittens and puppies to experience the aquarium. It is quite interesting to note that the names of the kittens who visited the facility were related to aquatic life: Bubbles, Dory, Guppy, Marlin, and Nemo. On the other hand, the puppies were named Carmel and Odie.
The dogs and cats observed with astonishment as fish and other sea creatures of various sizes and shapes swam about their aquariums to greet them. The kittens and pups were unlike the visitors the aquatic animals were accustomed to seeing, but they did not mind. They continued to enjoy the company of each other.
When the lockdown was declared, public and non-profit facilities were also required to cease their activities. The Atlanta Humane Society worked with the Georgia Aquarium to educate the public on how adorable rescue animals are and why they also deserve loving homes. They desired to highlight the importance of aquatic rescues and the beauty of aquatic life.
They produced wonderful films showing how much joy the kittens and pups had at the aquarium. It is their method of encouraging everyone to adopt rescue animals and visit aquariums as part of their post-quarantine plans.
