A horrified resident of Charleston, South Carolina quickly contacted the Charleston County 911 center. This resident discovered a duct-taped dog with a bleeding nose wandering the street, and whoever committed this act of cruelty wrapped the tape tightly around the poor animal’s muzzle.
The resident’s call initiated a chain of events that led to the arrest of the perpetrator and a complete life transformation for the dog named Caitlyn.
A pair claimed to be Caitlyn’s former owners after the news of the abuse leaked. According to them, a man offered to purchase their dog (whose original name was Diamond) after learning that the dog’s destructive behavior led to the couple’s eviction. The dog was in good health when sold to the man.
The pair decided to come forward because they may be able to assist authorities in locating the perpetrator of the brutality. The individual who purchased the dog from them has been detailed to Animal Control.
Caitlyn was then transferred to a hyperbaric chamber at Mount Pleasant Veterinary Care Specialists in order to receive urgently required care. Due to her fragile state, a big portion of her tongue may be surgically removed if the lack of blood causes its tissue to perish.
Caitlyn runs the risk of serious disfigurement and life-threatening problems due to the large volumes of dead tissue in her body. Fortunately, Caitlyn only lost a small part of her tongue during surgery, and her faster-than-expected recovery amazed everyone. Additionally, her surgical wounds are healing wonderfully, and her sutures are holding.
Caitlyn regained her ability to bark after days of recuperation in the Veterinary Specialty Care, which is an excellent sign that everything is going well.
By beginning with lesser portions, she is now able to eat and drink regularly. She is so enthusiastic that she is currently playing with the donated toys that surround her.
Meanwhile, the individual responsible for Caitlyn’s mistreatment was apprehended by authorities in North Charleston. William Leonard Dodson, a 41-year-old from North Charleston, South Carolina, pleaded guilty to the felony charge of animal cruelty.
Caitlyn is now under the care of a foster family in an effort to expedite her recuperation. Now that she is recovering from her physical wounds, it is time for her mental and emotional wounds to heal, and we all hope that this will result in Caitlyn’s complete recovery.
