The only thing the vet could do to stop Murray’s pain was to euthanize him. Though euthanasia is uncalled for, it’s the only way of helping an animal in excruciating pain. Murray had a distemper virus that destroyed his nervous system. He was toothless, had a disfigured head, and had crooked features.
But before the vet could administer the lethal injection, Murray wagged his tail as if to say, “Let me fight for my life.” And that’s what the vet did. Surprisingly, Murray pulled it off and is now a healthy and happy dog living with the gallant family.
His background story could be better. He lived on the dead dog beach in Puerto Rico before the Sato Project rescued him. Later, they took him to the USA for adoption.
As the name of the beach hints, animals are left for the dead all year round here. And these animals don’t die because of the diseases, but the environment. The filth and severe weather do not spare the susceptible animals.
“The cutest thing is signature tongue out; his quirks make him even cuter and more special,” says Mackenzie Gallant. Murray beat the odds, and not even his disease could deny him the cuteness he possesses. The Gallant family from Massachusetts didn’t think twice when they found the dog.
At first, the family didn’t want to adopt the dog. They tried to keep him as a foster. They decided to keep him and help the Sato Project in creating awareness for dog rescue. The most significant way they could do this is to create an Instagram account for the dog.
Years down the line, Murray has had a substantial impact on awareness. His Instagram page has thousands of followers, and the Sato Project is getting loads of help from his fans.
