The Nutcracker is among the most famous ballet acts in the world. It’s a two-act ballet created more than a century ago, and it’s still widely danced worldwide, especially during the Christmas holidays. The St. Louis Ballet even made The Nutcracker a permanent part of their repertoire.
Kelly Pratt and Ian Kreidich are professional photographers who started a unique project called Dancers and Dogs. They featured dancers from St. Louis. Ballet and paired them with dogs. The result was adorable photographs that highlight the skills of the ballet dancers with cute dogs.
The fun photos also opened an opportunity for less-fortunate dogs. Dancers and Dogs also partnered with Stray Rescue of St. Louis to feature the ballet dancers with shelter dogs. They titled the photoshoot The Muttcracker, which aims to bring a little holiday magic to everyone, especially for shelter dogs.
The photoshoot with the shelter dogs aims to increase awareness about adopting dogs from animal shelters. They featured the dogs in adorable poses with the dancers to highlight just how adorable dogs can be even if they came from animal shelters. Some of the dogs were even special needs dogs, but their photos with the dancers in their costumes really made the dogs shine.
All the dogs used in the photoshoot are shelter dogs and are available for adoption. Some of the dogs featured were adopted into loving forever homes after catching the attention of people who saw the photos. It’s incredible how a simple photoshoot can change the lives of shelter animals.
By showing off the beauty of these dogs and the beauty of adopting shelter dogs, we can be sure that they will find a forever home. Dancers and Dogs is a great project that doesn’t only showcase the adorable dogs but also helps the less-fortunate dogs that live in shelters find a forever home, especially during the holiday season. Here’s a sweet video showing shelter dogs posing with the St. Louis Ballet dancers.
