The story of Mack may sound similar to other stories about dogs that love cats. However, given what Mack, the blue Pit and Lab mix, has gone through in his life, his story is far more unique than it appears to be.
Mack was mistreated as a puppy. He and his brother were bound to a tree and denied food, water, and affection. Their owner, who had little interest in nurturing the dogs, made numerous attempts to rehome them, but because they were devoted dogs, they kept returning. The shelter ultimately provided foster care for the dogs.
Mack’s brother was eventually adopted, however, Mack was labeled as dangerous and was at risk of being euthanized. His aggressive temperament was a result of his terrible childhood and great fear. Chris, a worker at the shelter, became aware of this.
For Chris, the dog’s fear was the cause of its hostility, so he offered his skills to work with Mack, which delayed the dog’s planned euthanasia. Chris was up to the task, even if it would be hard.
Chris taught Mack to be sociable with other dogs and to regain his trust in humans. In four months, Mack has transformed into a loving and trustworthy dog.
A woman named Analisa Trstensky has been following the shelter in her hometown of Tallahassee, Florida, where Mack’s story was shared. After reading about Mack’s history, she wanted to know how he went from being an aggressive dog to a loving, friendly one.
Analisa is no stranger to animal rescue since she frequently rescued animals when she was a child. Their horse farm’s barn serves as sanctuary for stray cats. They are currently caring for three rescued pot-bellied pigs.
The woman, who already owns a cat named Bowser, was not seeking for a dog, but the image of Mack got her attention. So Analisa chose to email Mack’s foster mother, and the pair exchanged emails. Analisa was hesitant at first because she knew nothing about Pit bulls other than their reputation, but she finally agreed to visit Mack.
Mack played hard to get by clumsily sitting a few feet away and wagging his tail. But Analisa brought Mack home because she fell in love with him.
Bowser hit it off immediately with Mack. In just one day, they decided to become each other’s siblings. The next morning, Analisa awoke to find her two pets cuddled on top of her in bed.
Mack appears interested in assisting Analisa with fostering the kittens she frequently brings home. Bowser and Mack now assist their mother whenever possible, proving that Pit Bulls are as sweet and compassionate as any other breed.
