A lurcher dog named Sue was only a puppy when she was first taken to Bath Cats and Dogs Home in August 2017 and has spent most of her life in kennels in the shelter. In 2018, she was adopted for a brief period and then returned by her owners. There was a sudden change in their circumstances, and they could no longer keep her.
The shelter staff is perplexed that no one has adopted Sue again, so they have made it their goal to help her find her forever home. They believe that fur parents are hesitant due to the dog’s needs. The kennel staff said she has challenging behaviors, but those can be dealt with in time with proper training, patience, and care.
Bath Cats and Dogs Home spokesperson Vanessa Langford described Sue as sweet and affectionate. She said the pup loves people and toys and is very social. Sue is also clever. She can already follow simple commands like “paw” and “sit.” But due to her challenging behaviors, she requires an experienced owner.
Additionally, Sue cannot live with children and other animals. And she needs a muzzle when taking walks. These requirements make it difficult for the shelter staff to find her a suitable family.
Langford explained that many have been showing interest and asking about Sue. Unfortunately, none of the applications have pushed through yet. The shelter staff is happy with the attention the pup is getting, but they do not want to risk giving her away just for the sake of it and then have her returned to the shelter again.
Langford went on to say that Sue already has a great home at Bath Cats and Dogs Home. However, she knows that the pup would be happier with a real family and a comfortable home to call her own.
