A video of a dog reunited with her owner has gone viral and has been viewed almost 11 million times. Her reaction to finding her long-lost family is very heartwarming, especially after spending two long years alone in a shelter.
Escape
Pakita was already an adult when she was able to escape the yard. Sadly though, she couldn’t find her way back home. And despite giving all their efforts, her family was unable to locate her.
A concerned man saw Pakita wandering the streets in a town in Argentina and brought her to a shelter. They took her in and gave her a safe place to stay and some food and water. But even with the love and care shown to her, the dog was withdrawn and sad. She mostly kept to herself.
A couple of years have passed, yet nobody adopted Pakita. She kept getting passed over for the younger and more active pups. They tried looking for someone to get her through social media, but they couldn’t get a decent picture of her. She would always cower and hide her face.
But one time, they were able to get a clear photo and they posted it on their Facebook page. That’s when everything changed.
It’s my dad!
A woman messaged almost immediately informing them that Pakita was her son’s dog. They had been looking for her for so long. The owner, Ariel Naveira, never lost hope that he would find his beloved pet again. And now that he knew where she was, he didn’t waste any time getting to her.
A lot of time has gone and passed since they saw each other that the dog didn’t recognize her dad right away. She kept hiding behind a shelter staff, too scared to get close to the man in front of her. But once she got a whiff of him, the dog started going crazy.
Her heart bursting with joy, she started jumping up and down, trying to lick her owner’s face. Ariel was overjoyed too. There was no doubt that this was his Pakita. The two had a very emotional reunion and their happiness was priceless.
