When the Union of European Football Associations Euros soccer tournament ended, Italy was proclaimed the European champion. The Italians may have won the trophy, but the English soccer team earned the hearts of many passionate fans throughout the world.
Everyone was cheering for the English team to win the competition, as they were the overwhelming favorites. It turned out that even dogs have been cheering for jolly old England, as seen in a 2018 viral video.
Scooby Doo is the name of the amusing dog in the clip. The sweet scene was captured when he was only nine years old.
Roger and Sanny Vernon were the dog’s owners and they were watching the game together with their pet. England’s captain, Harry Kane, was about to take a penalty kick against Panama, as shown on television. A penalty kick happens when a player faces the goalkeeper of the other side one-on-one.
Penalty kicks can be nerve-wracking for both players and viewers. It was probably for this reason that Scooby Doo was unable to watch the game when Kane was about to take the shot. This incident is funny because many fans throughout the world behave just the same way every time the team that they are supporting takes a penalty kick.
The Vernons could not help but yell as they celebrated the goal, and Scooby Doo also celebrated as if he knew what was going on! The funny dog constantly barked at the television and jumped up and down, imitating the stadium’s spectators.
A few moments after Scooby Doo celebrated the goal, his dog sister could be seen barking at the television. She seemed eager to participate in the excitement as well!
Scooby-Doo obviously does not understand soccer as we do. He became excited because his owners were screaming. Nonetheless, Scooby Doo’s response was too hilarious to ignore!
