We’ve read hundreds of stories of dogs saving humans. Well, this is likely because of the fact that dogs are excellent at detecting danger and have the instinct to save and protect the humans that they love.
But here is a story about a human that did his best to save the life of a dog. The hero of this story is a 75-year-old man who fought a 7-foot alligator to save a precious dog. This happened in Florida, behind Buddy’s residence. Osi, his daughter’s golden retriever, was in his care at that time because his daughter was on vacation.
Jody, the daughter of Buddy, left her beloved dog at her father’s house. She was in holiday mode and was aware that Buddy and Osi were always friends. She had no idea that while she was enjoying her vacation, her father and her dog were about to confront a major obstacle.
On that fateful morning, Buddy walked Osi on his property. While strolling, Osi went to the pond behind Buddy’s house to relieve herself. Suddenly, Buddy observed a strange, swiftly moving ripple in the water. It was early in the morning when this occurred, so Buddy could not see quite well.
Then, as Buddy said, the water just seemed to explode. His pond was hiding a 7-foot alligator! It bit Osi on her hindquarters, causing the poor dog to cry out in pain.
Buddy realized he had to act before it was too late. He then kicked the alligator’s muzzle, causing it to release Osi.
Buddy quickly called alligator trappers. A few minutes later, the trappers arrived and captured the reptile. Buddy also notified Jody of the situation, and she was happy that they were both safe.
We commend Buddy for his bravery. Despite his age, he did not back down from the battle to save man’s best buddy.
