A police dog is usually a German Shepherd or a Belgian Malinois since these breeds are known for their strength and ferocity. Auggie the Beagle surprisingly defied this stereotype by joining the Susquehanna Township Police Department. Even though he was not entrusted with apprehending criminals or sniffing out bombs, his role was equally vital.
He is the one who provides comfort, support, and love to those that enter the police station, and he takes pleasure in doing so each and every time. Although he appears to be a lovely puppy, Auggie has a troubled history. Once a stray, he was in poor condition when a rescue group discovered him. He did not want to be around humans, and it was evident that he had been abused.
According to the head of public safety, Robert Martin, Auggie appeared lonely when he first saw him, and when Martin approached him, Auggie quickly opened up. Even though they deeply loved Auggie, they had no choice but to relinquish him to the Humane Society in the Harrisburg region. He received rapid medical care, and the police and shelter collaborated to save his life. They immediately attempted to contact Auggie’s relatives, but no one claimed him.
He lived at the shelter for around one month, but no one came to claim him. The shelter was going to place Auggie up for adoption when the policemen indicated an interest in assisting him. They made the correct choice by allowing him to reside at the police station, and the affectionate Beagle looked delighted with the decision. After completing his training, Auggie became a member of the police force.
Even though he was not qualified to fight crime or pursue criminals, he was in charge of the station. Since he is an official member of the police force, he would receive 24-hour, seven-day-a-week attention. He was skilled at delivering joy and comfort not just to the workers but also to the guests with his charming appearance.
