Bali is a beautiful place in Indonesia. With its warm weather, vast white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and friendly people, it’s no wonder why Bali is one of the most frequented places for tourists from all over the world. However, like most developing countries, Indonesia really has no facility for stray dogs.
It’s not that uncommon to come across stray dogs in Bali. Although most stray dogs in Bali are quite healthy thanks to the locals and tourists feeding them, not all stray dogs in Bali survive, especially the puppies. Many puppies born as strays in Bali don’t survive and they need someone to take care of them. A puppy named Benji can be considered as one of the lucky ones.
Benji was only a few weeks old when he was found as a stray by a couple on holiday in Bali. The couple was going to dinner with their family when they came across Benji wandering the streets. Benji didn’t look good and he desperately needed help. So, the couple decided to stop for Benji and give him something to eat. Benji had scabs all over his body and his fur was also falling. Benji was definitely not healthy.
The couple decided to keep an eye on Benji and see if he has a mom. When the couple checked on Benji the next day, Benji was still alone and that’s when they knew that Benji was an orphan. Of course, the couple felt sorry for the puppy and there was no question that they needed to do something to help the little puppy.
The couple took Benji in and gave him the care he needed to survive. Benji felt right at home at the couple’s accommodation in Bali. The couple only had less than a week to go until they go back home to the UK. They were wondering what to do with Benji until they both realized that they both decided to bring Benji with them to the UK.
Getting Benji to the UK was a complicated process. Benji needed to get all the paperwork done and the entire process was estimated to take four to five months. While waiting for Benji, the couple was getting updates from the rescue home where Benji temporarily lived while he waited to be flown to the UK to his forever home. Benji was thriving and healthy.
Benji was no longer the thin, mangy dog. Thanks to the couple who found Benji, he was given a second chance to experience what it’s like to be a part of a family. Eventually, Benji was approved to fly to the UK where he was reunited with the couple who rescued him. Benji is now living happily in the UK in his forever home and with his loving family.
