When a man opened his door to go out for errands, he found a Maltese standing on her two legs. The dog excitedly greeted him as if they had known each other for a long time. However, the man had not seen the dog before. He never owned dogs because he did not like them.
He was puzzled because the Maltese seemed to like him very much. She followed him everywhere and would stay close to him on the couch. She liked to cuddle with him and kiss him as if he was her owner.
He tried to leave her outside, but she kept coming back to the door. The man’s heart went out to her and took her in. She made herself at home in the man’s house. Since he had no idea what her name was, he decided to name her Boksil.
The man’s wife noticed that Boksil showed signs of having an owner because she had been groomed before. In addition to that, she was lactating. Hence, they decided to look for her owners.
The couple went to vet clinics around town to ask if they knew Boksil. Not one vet recognized her. A doctor scanned her for a microchip, but she had none.
The couple did not give up yet, so they went from house to house and asked if Boksil looked familiar. They were directed to several homes, but none of them had a missing Maltese. They put up posters around town and posted him on the local website for lost dogs.
No one in the vicinity knew her history. They could only hope that she was not abandoned.
Several days had passed, yet no one came forward to claim her. The couple decided to foster her while waiting for her owner. However, they were willing to adopt her if the owner did not show up. Boksil chose them because she somehow knew that they would care for her.
