In a small province in South Korea, there was a dog that sat outside an old dismantled house right by the side of a busy road. Day in and day out, the pup stayed in the same spot. She lay on the cold cement and watched the cars that passed by almost the entire day.
A concerned neighbor felt pity for the poor dog so she asked help from the local rescuers. As the responders made it onsite, they checked the house and confirmed the place was completely uninhabitable. They called to see if someone was there but no one answered, and instead, they heard the dog’s bark coming from inside the house.
The rescuers encouraged the dog to come out but the terrified animal refused to show up. Moments later, a woman who lived across the streets came out and called the dog Boksil. And as it turned out, she’s been feeding the dog for more than two years already.
According to the woman, Boksil lived with her Grandpa in that old house. Eventually, the old man fell sick and passed away, leaving the dog behind. Since that day, the pup guarded the house with all her might and waited outside hoping Grandpa would show up once again.
Soon, the rescuers agreed it was time to get Boksil to safety. But when they tried and approached her, the terrified pup ran away. She sprinted toward the hill and stayed there for hours.
Meanwhile, the rescuers took the time and laid out a plan. They agreed it was best to use a trap so they set up one inside the yard. And then, they waited for the dog to come back. But just as they thought their plan would work, the trap failed and the dog escaped.
The rescuers spent the next two hours chasing after Boksil, and finally, they caught her. From the rescue location, they drove her to the vet’s clinic for medical care and a haircut. It was about time she got rid of the mats on her fur.
Boksil tested positive for heartworms but thankfully, her condition wasn’t that serious. So once she left the hospital, her new mom, the woman who took care of her for the last two years, took her home.
