Near a coastal town in South Korea, an uninhabited island mostly covered with fields of reeds can be found. Fishermen believed that only tall reeds and no other animals lived on that island.
Unexpected creatures live on the island
Nature experts came to the island to study its ecology. They discovered that there were two white dogs and some wild cat living there for quite some time. Surprisingly, they all managed to stay alive despite the lack of clean water and food to drink and eat.
People decided to help relocate the dogs. The nature experts lead the rescue activities on the island. They wanted to safely capture the dogs and bring them back to the mainland.
They brought light fence materials and assembled them into a large trap. The cage had trap doors on both ends. They placed two large plates of food inside the enclosure.
One of the rescuers set up a tent from a good distance away. The tent was far enough for the dogs not to notice its presence. He needed to use a telescope to see what’s happening around the trap.
The vigil for the dogs begin
After completing the trap, the rest of the team went back to their boat and sailed home. Only one person was left behind. His task was to monitor the trap and controlled the remote switch that can close the trap doors simultaneously.
The younger dog came to the enclosure first. It must have smelled the food inside. When it started to eat, the rescuer at the tent remotely closed the trap doors. As the sun sets, the rescuer was able to secure the first dog.
Early the next day, the second dog came. Like the other dog before, it too fell for the food inside the trap. Before the end of the day, the two dogs were rescued. The dogs begin their lives in their new home at an animal shelter. Hopefully, someone out there becomes interested in adopting them.
