Blue arrived at the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) shelter with all of his bones protruding from his body. Blue could barely lift his leg, and he had no energy to walk.
The shelter workers shared that as soon as they put Blue on his cage, Blue immediately laid his head down. The employees believed that Blue knew he was finally going to be alright because of how he did not hesitate to relax.

The workers shared that Blue was motivated by food, so they tried putting his plate at a certain distance because they wanted the dog to practice how to walk again. Blue’s therapist, Nina Luczyszyn, also physically moved the pup’s legs to get him accustomed to standing up.
Nina helped Blue stand up for five whole minutes because she did not want to force the dog too much. Nina shared that everyone in the shelter could see that Blue wanted to walk and get better.
Nina recalled that she had a hunch that Blue would finally be able to walk by himself on the day she took her day off. Nina shared that she was at the nail salon when her colleagues sent her a video of Blue walking on his own.
Nina shared that she immediately started crying because she was one of the people who helped him get better. Nina said that everyone at the shelter feeds Blue four times a day for quite a long time because they wanted him to gain weight gradually.
Nina shared that Blue got adopted after two weeks, and she admitted that she cried the entire night that the dog left for his forever family. Blue’s parents, Bill and Kate, said that their dog is a big snuggler, and they could not be any more glad that they have him in their lives.
