An elderly resident of Orange Town, Massachusetts suddenly had a medical crisis and needed to be picked up by an emergency medical team. While the dog owner was being loaded into the ambulance, her two pets, Jacques and Annabelle, ran away amidst the confusion.
The Orange Police Department was asked to retrieve the Scottish Terriers. Officer Christopher Bisceglia was part of that team.
What happened next seemed like a story that came from the movies. It was filled with loyalty, friendship, and a successful rescue mission.
Help my friend
Officer Bisceglia was extremely delighted when he finally came across Jacques. They had already spent several hours looking for the dogs and were becoming quite desperate. Finding the pooch meant that they can now be brought to safety. But then, he became worried once again when he realized that the white pooch was all alone.
Where was Annabelle?
Surprisingly, the dog approached the cop and started barking and tugging at his pants. He was desperately trying to get the man’s attention and pleading with the officer to follow him. The pup would run back and forth, urging Officer Bisceglia to go with him.
The dog’s actions made the cop curious, and he decided to let the dog lead the way. After a few minutes, the excited pooch stopped next to a shallow ravine and started looking at something below. Officer Bisceglia followed the dog’s gaze, and that’s when he saw Annabelle, freezing on a snowy embankment.
A winter rescue
Officer Bisceglia immediately called the fire department. It was a frigid day, and the trapped dog could suffer from hypothermia or something worse. In just a few minutes, the firefighters arrived and they safely brought Annabelle out of the embankment.
Thankfully, when the two dogs were brought to the local shelter, the vets said they were both fine. Annabelle only had a few minor scrapes and wounds from falling off the ravine.
Officials said Jacques and Annabelle would stay in the shelter until their owner was well enough to take care of the bonded pair.
