Dogs are known for getting themselves in difficult situations. Most dog owners have their own stories about the time when their pet pooch got stuck somewhere. Sometimes we even wonder how they get themselves in such situations especially since they couldn’t get themselves out of it.
One dog in Florida ran away from home and he needed the combined efforts of the St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office to get him out of a tight situation. What made the rescue mission more difficult is that the dog was deaf and blind.
Two-hour rescue
According to the owners, their special needs dog escaped by mistake. Someone accidentally left the door open.
The dog was never let out alone because of his disability, so they were worried about what would happen to him. They quickly searched everywhere, and they soon found him trapped deep inside a pipe near their home. There was surely no way they could reach him or call him out.
They immediately called for help. Soon, three squads arrived and assessed the situation right away. When they figured out the layout of the drainage and the location of the dog, they formulated a plan. Using ropes and other makeshift equipment, they painstakingly set out to rescue the pooch.
It took two hours to pull him out from the tight pipe, and everyone cheered and celebrated once the dog was free.
All’s well that ends well
According to the rescuers, the dog was shivering and scared after the incident. But he was completely fine and had no injuries. The pooch was finally able to relax when he was handed to his owners and he recognized the familiar scent. The family was so relieved and they are very grateful for the help of the rescuers.
Photos and news of the rescue were posted online, and the netizens were quick to congratulate all the people involved. They are true heroes for saving that dog’s life that day.
