Dogs rescued from puppy mills go through so much trauma and pain. These dogs are used to being kept in small cages that they don’t know what to do once they are freed. They’re usually afraid of people, are depressed, and don’t know how to act like a dog.
A beautiful Golden Retriever named Eleanor spent most of her life in a puppy mill. She was kept in a small cage where she was forced to breed and she really didn’t know how to act like a normal dog. Fortunately, animal rescuers were able to rescue her from the puppy mill before it was too late.
Shortly after Eleanor was rescued, a woman named Jill fostered her and gave her a happy home. However, because she was kept in a small cage her entire life, Eleanor wasn’t used to her new life. She had difficulty walking because her leg muscles were weak and she settled in the smallest room in her foster home to feel comfortable.
Jill knew that forcing Eleanor to do things she wasn’t ready for wasn’t the answer. She took everything slowly to help Eleanor adjust. However, something changed when she gave Eleanor her first toy. Eleanor’s mood suddenly started to improve and Jill observed that Eleanor was treating the toy like it was her puppy.
Jill thought that because Eleanor wasn’t able to become a mom for her puppies because they were always taken away shortly after she gave birth to them, she treated the toys given to her like it was her puppy. Eleanor would keep the toys beside her and would even try to nursing them. Thanks to the toys Jill gave her, Eleanor started coming out of her shell and her happy personality started to show.
Before she was given toys, Eleanor was once a timid and uncomfortable dog. Just hours after she was given her first toy, Eleanor started wagging her tail. The toys became a source of joy for Eleanor and watching her transform into a happy and loving dog because of them is truly heartwarming.
Eleanor would always be seen having a toy in her mouth wherever she goes. She’s always happy whenever she’s around her toys and would always be seen cuddling with them. Here’s a heartwarming video showing Eleanor’s transformation.
