For some people, the color green resembles the sign of sickness. However, for others, this color is a sign of luck. This newborn puppy named Pistachio has a skin color of light green. However, among a brood of five, Pistachio is the only green one while his other siblings are white.
When Pistachio’s dad saw the puppy for the first time, he was shocked. The dog dad immediately licked Pistachio in the hopes that the puppy would be like his siblings. No matter how hard the dog dad tried, Pistachio’s color remains green.
Pistachio’s mom, Spelacchia, also felt weird about her son’s color. But despite this, the dog mom still did her best to take good care of all her puppies. Christian Mallocci owns Spelacchia, so he took the liberty of searching for answers on Pistachio’s case.
Fortunately, the fur parent found articles about dogs who also gave birth to green puppies. In the past, stories like the case of Pistachio also surfaced. For one, in Brazil, a Great Dane dog also gave birth to one green puppy. Another dog in Italy also gave birth to a green puppy.
Based on the previous explanations, the puppy’s green color is a result of a green pigment named biliverdin. The biliverdin is present inside a dog’s womb. This green pigment is the same as the one we see when the human skin receives bruises.
According to several published articles in the past, the puppies’ green color will turn white as days pass by. When Christian heard of this development, he was saddened but still believes that Pistachio brings luck to the family.
Christian plans to keep Pistachio while the other puppies will be given to his other friends with this thinking. Christian decided to give the other puppies to his friends to ensure that the puppies will be taken care of.
An Italian farmer could not believe his eyes when one of his eight dogs gave birth to a green-furred puppy. The tiny dog named Pistachio was part of a five-dog litter born on Oct. 9, all with white fur, the same color as their mixed breed mum – except him https://t.co/ZGZxIRxRxS pic.twitter.com/93vFX8mTFk
