A concerned citizen contacted Hope For Paws animal rescue when a stray dog suddenly walked into her backyard and gave birth to 9 little puppies. The rescuers rushed to the Los Angeles home and saw that the woman had placed the dogs in a plastic box to keep them in one place.
The mama dog barked and growled as soon as animal rescuers approached her and saw that her newborn puppies were placed in a kennel. However, she instantly calmed down as soon as she was petted and put in the cage where her pups are.
The mama dog, which the rescuers named Miss Godiva, was surprisingly calm throughout the car ride to the shelter. Miss Godiva was handfed with warmed canned doggy food and happily ate everything she was given while nursing her nine puppies simultaneously.
The animal rescuers noticed that Miss Godiva was covered in motor oil, making them think that she must have hidden under a vehicle for quite some time before finding her way to the kind woman’s home where she gave birth. Miss Godiva and her pups were examined upon their arrival at the facility, and luckily, they were all healthy.
The rescuers bathed Miss Godiva to remove all the motor oil on her body. Miss Godiva must have realized that she and her puppies were in good hands because she became more affectionate and kept licking her caretakers as soon as her warm bath was finished.
Miss Godiva and the puppies stayed at the Hope For Paws rescue facility until the newborn litters were old enough to be adopted. The pups eventually grew bigger and looked more like Rottweiler pooches with each passing day, making all the rescuers believe their dad must have been a Rottweiler. Miss Godiva and her babies were eventually adopted into loving homes a couple of months after being rescued.
