When Hope For Paws learned that an injured senior stray dog lived on a freeway off-ramp, Eldad Hagar and Lisa Chiarelli immediately responded. They knew how valuable time was, so they wasted no second. They rushed to help the dog.
As the rescuers arrived at the site, they immediately spotted the dog, sound asleep on the grass. Eldad and Lisa realized it was the perfect opportunity for them to catch the dog. And so, they used the situation to their advantage.
Slowly and quietly, Eldad came approaching. He took every step with extra care. Once he made it close enough, he placed the gentle snare he had on his hand around the dog’s neck. And quickly, he had the animal secured.
Petrified, the senior pup panicked and fought back. The dog tried to escape and started chewing off the snare. And while the animal attempted to break free from his rescuers, the dog accidentally bit his tongue.
The senior dog, named Rudolph later on, struggled for a short while. But once he realized the rescuers meant no harm, he started to relax. Moments later, Lisa and Eldad managed to place him in a travel cage.
Lisa and Eldad spent a couple of minutes with Rudolph before heading back home. Once at the hospital, the dog received medical treatment. By the scars on his face, the staffers saw the hard life Rudolph had on the streets. But Lisa helped him find his warm and gentle smile.
Rudolph spent a few weeks at the hospital. Once he recovered, he joined Mufasa, another Hope For Paws rescue dog, at Lionel’s Legacy. And later on, he went home with Susan, an experienced and caring foster of the rescue group.
It took quite a while before Rudolph got over his fears. But thanks to his foster mom, he learned to trust humans again. Susan and her son fell deeply in love with the dog, and Rudolph felt the same.
Because of the strong bond Susan and Rudolph had, Lionel’s Legacy decided that the dog’s search for a home was over. Rudolph’s foster turned out to be his forever loving home.
