After a tormenting encounter with a wild rattlesnake, January Jones’ precious dog named Vinny sought some urgent medical treatment after getting bitten. The 43-year-old Mad Men star recently revealed that her black Bernedoodle got bitten by a baby rattler, where she proceeded to share the actual photo of the snake through her Instagram stories.
In her caption, the Hollywood A-lister shared that Vinny got bitten by the snake that morning, but she was able to catch and release the reptile inside a blue net. Jones said she continues to pray for her beloved canine, who was already in the hospital as of that update. She also uploaded a photo of her dog beside three red heart emojis.
Jones belongs to Tinsel Town’s growing population of self-proclaimed fur-parents. The actress also owns an adorable Goldendoodle named Joey, whom she formally welcomed into her family in 2017. Since then, the two fur babies have frequented her social media page, with the actress frequently posting silly selfies together with the two.
She posted a photo of herself last July while napping together with the two amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In her cute caption, she said they were trying to be productive for the weekend, as it was important to have a goal. In November, Joey was featured for a holiday photo where the actress posed next to him beside a Christmas tree.
But for more information on the rattlesnake that bit poor Vinny. Based on the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, those reptiles are common within the state. And more often than not, canines are at an increased risk of getting bitten by them when they hold their noses to the ground as they investigate the great outdoors.
According to the agency’s website, rattlesnakes are not generally aggressive but would most likely retreat when they are given room or deliberately unprovoked or unthreatened. The majority of their bites occur when they are handled or touched accidentally by somebody who’s walking or climbing. They also said that rattlesnake bites, on rare occasions, have caused severe injuries and even deaths.
This might sound like a relief, but we’re sure January would be more careful when taking her dogs out again in the yard just in case a few rattlesnakes are on the loose again next time!
