During the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday, all Donny Oliver wanted was to help a friend whose dog recently gave birth. His friend was unable to care for all the puppies so he decided to help him drop them off at a shelter.
Donny carried the little puppies in his arms and put them in his car one by one. As he took the last pup in, one of the puppies curled on his lap. And that signaled the changes that were about to happen in their lives.
Donny brought the pup home and named him Sox. His children adored the pup from the moment they laid eyes on him. Together, Donny’s children and Sox grew up.
But Sox is a dog that can easily get stressed. He wanders almost all of the time. And one night, she just ran away.
The family immediately and regularly checked the official Facebook page of North Fork Animal Welfare League hoping that they have found Sox. Unfortunately, they didn’t.
Donny, especially his children, was devastated. They searched in every location they could think of but they found no leads about the whereabouts of Sox.
While Donny thought he’d never be able to see Sox again, a story of senior shelter dogs that kept crying circulated the internet. A friend forwarded the post to him and he couldn’t believe what he just read.
Donny’s family just got their new house during the time he learned of the post. With much excitement, he took care of everything so they can finally move in to their dream house and go pick up Sox.
The moment his family has settled in, Donny went straight to the shelter. Sox were brought out and both were overjoyed to see each other again.
Donny treats their dogs as children. So he immediately loaded Sox into the car and took her to their brand new home.
