Brittany Memory and her pet dog, Penny, were invited by a talkshow program called Live with Kelly and Ryan after word got to them that the adorable little Maltese miraculously survived a super tornado. Brittany told the hosts, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest, how the 200-miles-per-hour wind destroyed her humble home in North Carolina.
Brittany shared that severe weather such as thunderstorms and tornados are uncommon in her part of town, so she struggled to sleep when she experienced it for the first time. She recalled that her son was asleep in her bed while Penny was standing right at the foot of it.
Brittany recalled everything suddenly became too suspiciously quiet, so she decided to check both her son and Penny. She saw that Penny’s fur was standing up straight and immediately had a feeling that something was wrong when the lights suddenly clicked off.
Brittany quickly turned on her phone’s flashlight and checked her surroundings because she thought someone might have broken into her house. However, Brittany dashed straight to her room, where her son slept peacefully as soon as she heard quite a loud bang that sounded like a freight train was about to run them all over.
Brittany recalled feeling the wind on her back when she grabbed her son by his collars, threw him in the closet, and jumped on top of him. She tried to call Penny to come to her, but the pup was nowhere to be seen.
Brittany believes that Penny was blown away by the tornado together with her bed because it was the last place she saw her furbaby. She admitted she was frozen in fear and that all she could do was pray for her dog’s safety.
Fortunately, Brittany’s mom, who happened to live right next door, saw Penny walking alongside the neighbor’s family cat. She believes that the cat helped Penny find her way back home, and she could not be any more thankful that her dog survived the tornado.
