Tilly is a pit bull that went viral on Reddit, a popular social media and news aggregation platform. This is because of a set of before and after photos shared by her new owner. Thousands of people upvoted the said post and gave positive comments.
The first two photos showed how emaciated Tilly was. Her bones were clearly visible, and she was missing patches of fur. Her face was full of anguish and sorrow. In the third photo, Tilly was visibly healthier and happier.
The vast difference inspired a lot of people.
A year of neglect
Reddit user “h-h-c” posted the photos and said she adopted the dog from a Salem-based rescue organization called Dawgs Fight Back Rescue. Tilly’s new owner, a postal worker from Maine, said the poor pooch spent a year chained up outside her previous family’s home. She was rarely fed and barely had any shelter.
Worst of all, she never knew how it was to be loved.
The first step to the canine’s new life started when a concerned citizen called Dawgs Fight Back Rescue and reported the situation. Legally, they couldn’t just get Tilly from her abusive owners. Fortunately for the dog, the volunteers from the rescue group were able to convince her owners to turn her over.
Transformation
Within several days, “h-h-c” learned about Tilly through the website of Dawgs Fight Back Rescue. She fell in love with the dog and wanted her to have a better life. As soon as she got the dog home, she started an intensive medical program filled with love and care.
The new pet owner gave the dog plenty to eat, a comfortable place to rest and sleep, and lots of affection. Tilly responded well. She started to become healthier and more emotionally stable.
“h-h-c” shares that Tilly has adjusted well to her new environment. She loves to play, especially with her new canine siblings, and has shown no aggression or trauma.
Reddit users commended the dog’s owner for her hard work and dedication to Tilly.
