Nate Feola from Colorado Springs had lived a difficult life in the past. He was a premature baby who only weighed less than two pounds when he was born. Nate lived in the hospital for five months before he was discharged.
Nate’s parents were abusive towards him to add up to his misery. A case was filed against them and as a result, that they lost their custody of him.
Nate has a chronic lung condition that he needs to always carry a 20-lb. oxygen tank with him wherever he goes.
At present, Nate is living happily with his adoptive parents. His adoptive parents love him so much that they are willing to give everything to him so that he will have a comfortable and happy childhood. However, they do not enough funds to fully give all the things that he needs. They wish that Nate be more independent and live like a normal kid.
Nate’s adoptive parents thought of getting a service dog for him. The service dog would help him carry his oxygen tank and to help him with his balance.
Unfortunately, a service dog doesn’t come cheap. On average, it costs $20,000-$25,000 and Nate’s family doesn’t have that amount. They have decided to put up a YouCaring fundraiser page to knock on kind people’s hearts and help them get a service dog for Nate.
Thankfully, KOAA 5, a local news company, heard about Nate’s story and featured it on their news. A few weeks after the news was aired, Nate’s family was able to raise the amount they needed in time for Christmas! Their hearts were full because of the generosity and support of the people all across the United States.
Nate’s service dog will be trained for a year before it will be turned over to him. Nate’s service dog will be named Hero.
We are looking forward to more stories about you, Nate and Hero, in the future!
