Hope For Paws learned that a terrified little dog lived near a busy street in L.A. Vehicles kept passing by, and neighbors were concerned that he might run into traffic and eventually get hit by a car. So the moment the rescue team received the call, JoAnn Wiltz and Lisa Arturo rushed to save the dog.
Arriving at the scene, Lisa and JoAnn immediately saw the perfect opportunity to catch the dog. The animal ran into an enclosed yard, where there was only one escape route. With the property owner’s permission, the ladies secured the area by placing a removable plastic fencing around the pup.
Once the rescuers enclosed the perimeter, Lisa worked on gaining the dog’s trust. Stressed and confused at first, the pup didn’t realize the women were there to help. He snarled at them, but he didn’t try to run or escape.
The rescuers knew it’s important to give the dog some time. They needed him to get used to their presence, so Lisa sat down with him and tried to pet him using a blanket. Once the dog calmed down, he let his rescuer touch him with her bare hands. Moments later, Lisa was already able to place the Lucky Leash around the dog’s neck.
Lisa and JoAnn agreed to name the dog Solo. Back at home, they scanned Solo for a microchip, but he didn’t have one. They didn’t know much about him or where he came from, but they promised to provide him the life that he deserved.
At first, Solo was a little skittish and shy when he’s around people. PAL Rescue agreed to take care of him until his forever family comes. They helped him develop his social skills, and through their affection, Solo learned that humans weren’t that scary at all. Solo is now ready to be with his new family, and he hopes nothing but to find his perfect match soon enough.
