A dog running away is an owner’s worst nightmare. That’s why a lot of effort is put into finding lost dogs.
But what happens when a lost dog is found but can no longer recognize its owner? The following story provides the answer to this question.
A couple from South Korea once lost their dog when they were living near the mountains. The dog, Terry, just decided to run away one day without any warning. Exactly three years after the incident, another dog has been spotted around the area that looked like him. The couple, who moved to a different address, went back to that place in the hopes of seeing their lost dog.
When the couple went to the location, they brought items that were sentimental to Terry. They hoped that putting those items on the ground for Terry to see and smell will help him recognize them. The owners also called out to him, but he didn’t respond.
At a certain point, the owners started to doubt if the dog in the mountain was indeed Terry. Fortunately, there was a way to confirm this. Terry had undergone surgery in the past, which means that he has a scar on his body. If they can find the same scar on the stray dog, they will be sure that it is him.
With the help of local animal rescuers, the couple managed to capture the stray dog. He was then brought to a veterinary clinic to check for any surgical scars. The couple had to wait anxiously for the news that will confirm their suspicion.
Unfortunately, the vets couldn’t find any surgical scars. The medical screening results showed no signs of any past injury as well. The couple was heartbroken to hear this. The dog who they thought was Terry is actually a different dog all along.
Despite their disappointment, the couple still wanted to do something good for the stray. They decided to act as foster parents for him until he can get adopted. They promised to treat him well, just like how they would treat Terry.
