Forrest, a Great Dane puppy, was born with bad feet. Because of his condition, the breeder who owned him surrendered him to the animal clinic to be euthanized. Thankfully, the vets refused to put him down and decided to seek help from The Animal Pad Dog Rescue instead.
As soon as the rescue group received word about Forrest, LB, one of its volunteer workers, stepped forward and offered to foster the puppy. She knew taking care of him would not be easy but she was completely up for it.
The puppy weighed two pounds at the time of his rescue, but he grew up fast as the days went by. At 10 weeks old, he was already at 19 pounds. Hence, he had to race time to get his feet fixed or he would be in a lot of pain once he was full-grown.
Most of the surgeons LB spoke with said there’s nothing they could do for the puppy. She almost lost all hopes when finally, people started telling her to reach out to Lumen, a famous Great Dane with the same condition as Forrest. And so, she did her assignment and got in contact with the dog’s adoptive moms.
Lumen and Forrest came from the same breeder and ended up in the same vet clinic, where they were supposed to be put to sleep. They surely did not come from the same litter because she was older than him. But because they share a very rare congenital defect, it was revealed that they came from the same set of dog parents.
Forrest went to see Lumen’s orthopedic surgeon in Oregon and immediately went into surgery. He stayed there for 5 months and LB was a complete emotional wreck having to be away from him. But once he was done with all his surgeries, his foster mom burst into tears again because she was so happy to have him back.
While Forrest was away, LB met her new boyfriend Tyler. She was so happy and excited to introduce the two to each other but it turned out they were more delighted to meet one another. Tyler and Forrest hit it off in an instant and LB ended up being the third wheel in their relationship.
Forrest was in a very bad state when he came into this world. But because he refused to just give up, he got to meet his sister and even ended up with a very loving dad.
