JoAnn Wiltz and Alex Babcock, rescue volunteers of Hope For Paws, a non-profit group in LA, responded to a call about an abandoned Pit Bull. The poor dog found itself alone outside a fast food restaurant. Without anywhere to go, it took shelter in the premises’ dumpster shed.
The garbage men were set to take the trash away, so the rescuers needed to secure the dog quickly. The scared pooch, however, retreated to the back ends of the dumpster, so JoAnn cautiously followed it. Alex, on the other hand, secured the opposite side of the shed in case the dog tried to get away.
JoAnn slowly built trust with the pup by feeding it. Hungry, the dog slowly went for the food. Gentle snare in hand, JoAnn used this distraction to close the gap between them.
Little by little, the Pit Bull felt comfortable with its rescuer. It eventually ate out of JoAnn’s hand and the rescuer used this opportunity to smoothly place the gentle snare on the dog, completely securing it.
The rescuers coaxed the pooch out of the dumpster shed and named it Kisses. While Alex petted the dog, she noticed that its fur was so dirty that her hands blackened just by touching it.
JoAnn and Alex whisked Kisses to the vet right away. There, the pup received a much-needed bath. Layers of dirt on Kisses’ fur showed as the bath water darkened, but after a thorough cleaning, she looked like an entirely different animal.
After a challenging life alone, Kisses now embarks on her fresh start. She’s with a loving foster family, and she surely is having a great time with them. The Pit Bull, however, continues to look forward to a future with her forever family, and she wishes to find them soon enough.
