A lot of dogs found at a shelter are skinny and malnourished. Not all of them are given the appropriate aid inside the shelter. That’s why foster parents are needed to help these dogs gain weight until they are back at an acceptable weight range for their breed.
When an emaciated dog named Charlie Brown found himself in a new home, he felt safe. He never resisted receiving a bath given by his foster parent. Furthermore, He slept on a comfortable bed and rested for over 16 hours.
The foster parents thought that they would only keep Charlie for a week. The dog ended up staying with his foster parents for several months. That gave the dog a lot of time to gain an appetite and bond with other dogs.
Another dog named Gouda became Charlie’s best friend. They would always play and cuddle together. It’s safe to say that the friendship helped Charlie become more trusting. Since he’s in such a good mental state, he also ate more enthusiastically, which made him gain 30 to 40 pounds.
When Charlie is being goofy around people, it’s a sign that he trusts them. The foster parents often find him doing funny things. For example, even if he is a big dog, he often sleeps on small dog beds.
Charlie loves his new home but is also very enthusiastic when going outside. He and Gouda love to go on hikes and visit beaches. The foster parent loves watching the two dogs run around without a care in the world.
After 10 months of foster care, Charlie was ready for adoption. A couple named David and Sheldon were the perfect adopters for him. The new owners also adopted another dog shortly after getting Charlie. They knew he couldn’t live without a companion, so they got him a friend.
