Some people are more than willing to put their lives on the line to save their dogs from danger. It’s either they have already calculated the risk, or they just don’t mind getting themselves harmed.
One great example of this is the viral story of a teen who fended off a large bear that swiped at her dog in the family’s backyard in California. Some might find this incredible and hard to believe, but it really did happen!
The unexpected bear invasion
A 17-year-old girl named Hailey Morinico risked her life to drive away a bear and save her dog. The teen’s bravery had been captured by a security camera.
In the viral clip, you could see that a large female bear and her cubs were walking on top of a yard wall. Initially, Hailey’s four dogs bolted towards the bear. The larger animal then swiped at one of the dogs. Suddenly, Hailey dashed outside and without hesitation, she shoved the large animal off the wall.
Hailey first thought that there was a squirrel or another dog that caused her dogs to be agitated. When she looked at the ruckus, she thought that it was just a funny-looking dog standing on the wall. But when she got even closer, she realized that it was a bear, and it looked like she was taking up one of the dogs.
A heroic deed, indeed
Once the bear was out of sight, Hailey scooped up her dog and ran back home. Hailey said that she didn’t push the bear so hard. She just pushed her enough that she had lost her balance. The bear, though, didn’t appear to be injured.
Hailey noted that the encounter was not new in the region since the warmer weather has already started. But thankfully, though, she was safe and sound. She only had a sprained finger and a scraped knee but was otherwise okay.
